Reality Series 'Neighbors' Set to Premiere on HBO Amidst Other Entertainment News
HBO and A24 are set to premiere "Neighbors," a new reality series from the producers of "Marty Supreme," on February 13, according to Variety. The six-episode late-night show will examine outrageous residential conflicts, revealing the extreme lengths neighbors will go to defend what's theirs. The trailer for the series has already been released.
In other entertainment news, the long-awaited "Dirty Dancing" sequel, starring Jennifer Grey as Frances "Baby" Houseman, is moving forward with "Hunger Games" producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson joining the project, Variety reported. Kim Rosenstock, co-creator of "Dying for Sex," is set to pen the screenplay.
Amy Madigan has joined the cast of the Netflix series adaptation of S.A. Crosby's novel "All the Sinners Bleed," according to Variety. Madigan will guest star opposite Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù, who plays the series lead, as well as series regulars John Douglas Thompson, Nicole Beharie, Daniel Ezra, Andrea Cortés, Murray Bartlett, and Leila George. Gianmarco Soresi, Michael O'Neill, and Edwin Hodge will have recurring roles.
The first season of Marvel’s "Wonder Man" recently concluded with a cathartic ending, Time reported. The finale opened with a childhood memory of a young Simon Williams, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and his father bonding over the original 80s "Wonder Man" film.
Outside of entertainment, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is facing renewed calls for impeachment after federal agents fatally shot a second U.S. citizen in Minneapolis, Time reported. The incident involved Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old VA nurse, who was shot during city-wide protests against President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown. Noem stated that Pretti approached Border Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and reacted violently when officers attempted to disarm him, echoing remarks made by Homeland Security adviser Stephen Miller, Noem accused Pretti of perpetrating the definition of domestic terrorism. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara told the press that Pretti was a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry.
