Ilhan Omar Attacked at Town Hall Meeting; International Holocaust Remembrance Day Observed; Crypto Bill Stalls in Congress
Minneapolis, MN – U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar was attacked at a town hall meeting in Minneapolis on Tuesday when an individual sprayed her with an unknown substance from a syringe. According to Reuters, the assailant, whose name has not been released, was arrested and faces third-degree assault charges. Omar was unharmed in the incident, which occurred while she was advocating for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to Al Jazeera.
The incident occurred on the same week as International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which was commemorated globally on Tuesday, January 27th.
