The enhanced security measure was developed in response to past spyware incidents. It also limits profile visibility and restricts who can add a user to groups, providing a stronger defense against sophisticated cyber campaigns, according to The Verge. The feature is recommended for those facing credible threats.
In other tech news, multiple sources reported that scammers are exploiting a legitimate Microsoft Power BI email address (no-reply-powerbimicrosoft.com) to send fraudulent emails. These emails claim unauthorized charges and prompt victims to install remote access software, Ars Technica noted. Users are encouraged to whitelist the legitimate address. This abuse of a trusted service adds credibility to the scam, allowing attackers to bypass typical email security measures and engage in voice interaction to further their malicious goals.
