Russian Drone Strike on Ukrainian Passenger Train Kills Five
A Russian drone strike on a passenger train in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine killed at least five people and injured several others on Tuesday, according to Ukrainian officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack as "terrorism," stating that there was no "military justification" for targeting civilians.
The attack occurred when one of the train's carriages was hit by a drone, and two other drones exploded nearby, according to local officials. More than 200 people were on the train at the time of the attack. Zelensky said that 18 people were in the targeted carriage.
The incident drew immediate condemnation from international leaders. Russia has yet to comment on the specific attack.
In other news from the United States, President Donald Trump stated that his administration would "de-escalate a little bit" in Minnesota following the recent fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by federal immigration officers. Pretti's death reignited local protests and public outcry, leading to criticism from lawmakers in both parties. Trump, in a Fox News interview on Tuesday, called the shootings "terrible." This statement comes after Renee Good was also fatally shot by an immigration officer earlier in the month.

Also, TikTok US denied claims that it is censoring content on its platform. In a response to the BBC, a spokesperson for TikTok US reiterated an earlier statement pointing to technical issues being the reason for problems since it became a separate American entity last week. "We've made significant progress in recovering our US infrastructure with our US data center partner," the spokesperson said. "However, the US user experience may still have some technical issues, including when posting new content."
In India, Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra state, was killed in a plane crash on Wednesday morning. The chartered plane he was traveling in crashed at the airport in Baramati, Pawar's constituency. India's prime minister, Narendra Modi, called Pawar's death "shocking and saddening" and praised his service to the people. The civil aviation minister said visibility was poor at the airport at the time of the crash, and the aviation regulator has launched an investigation.
