Trump Administration Launches $50 Billion Rural Health Initiative
Washington D.C. – The Trump administration initiated a five-year, $50 billion program aimed at overhauling healthcare in rural America, according to an announcement made in late December. The Rural Health Transformation Program intends to significantly change healthcare delivery in underserved areas nationwide.
The initiative comes as healthcare experts are also pushing for increased lung cancer screenings, citing concerning trends of rising cases among younger adults, particularly women and people of Asian descent, as well as those who have never smoked, according to a 2026 report by the American Cancer Society. Experts note that lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., responsible for more deaths than colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined, according to Time.
