Swedish Amusement Park Fined Following Fatal Rollercoaster Derailment
Gröna Lund amusement park in Sweden was fined nearly €588,000 ($491,000) on Wednesday in connection with a 2023 rollercoaster derailment that resulted in one death and nine injuries, according to Euronews. The incident occurred on June 25, 2023, on the Jetline ride at the park.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as the front of the train appeared to jump off the tracks before coming to a stop, with one car tilted toward the ground, Euronews reported. Three people were thrown from the rollercoaster. The fine was issued following an investigation into the cause of the derailment.
Tesla to Discontinue Model S and Model X Production
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced Wednesday that the company would end production of the Model S sedan and Model X SUV, TechCrunch reported. The final versions of both electric vehicles will be produced next quarter.
"It's time to basically bring the Model S and X programs to an end with an honorable discharge, because we're really moving into a future that is based on autonomy," Musk said during the company's quarterly earnings call, according to TechCrunch. He added that Tesla would continue to offer support for existing Model S and Model X owners.
The Model S and Model X are both built at Tesla's Fremont, California factory. Musk stated that once production ends, Tesla will use the factory space to build Optimus robots, TechCrunch reported.
Meta's VR Division Loses Billions
Meta's virtual reality division, Reality Labs, lost $19.1 billion in 2025, according to the company's earnings report released Wednesday, TechCrunch reported. This is slightly more than the $17.7 billion the unit lost in 2024.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, Reality Labs posted a loss of $6.2 billion against $955 million in sales, TechCrunch reported. Throughout 2025, the unit generated $2.2 billion in sales. Earlier this month, Meta laid off 10 staff members from Reality Labs, reportedly cutting as many as 1,000 employees, according to TechCrunch.
During the company's earnings call, Mark Zuckerberg expressed optimism for Meta's VR technology, TechCrunch reported.
Trump Administration Loosened Nuclear Safety Regulations
Changes made during the Trump administration to federal nuclear safety policies could accelerate reactor development, potentially at a cost to human and environmental health, TechCrunch reported. The Department of Energy has altered how it oversees the safety and security of nuclear power plants built on its properties.
According to a report from NPR, about a third of the rulebook has been eliminated, and several sections have been heavily revised, TechCrunch reported. Previous requirements aimed at limiting groundwater and environmental contamination are now suggestions.
European Military Capabilities Lacking
According to an opinion article published by Euronews, Europe lacks key military capabilities, especially independent command, intelligence, and digital infrastructure. Danish MEP Henrik Dahl wrote that most of these capabilities are still provided by the U.S. in the Euronews article.
