FBI Searches Fulton County Election Office Amid 2020 Election Inquiry
The FBI conducted a search of the Fulton County election office outside of Atlanta on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. According to the county, the search warrant served by the FBI was for records related to the 2020 election.
The FBI confirmed it was executing a "court authorized law enforcement action," but did not provide further details. Last month, the Department of Justice announced it was suing Fulton County for records related to the 2020 election, according to NPR News. President Trump narrowly lost Georgia's 2020 election results.

In other news, a state-sponsored hacking campaign in September 2025 utilized AI to target approximately 30 organizations across tech, finance, manufacturing, and government sectors, according to MIT Technology Review. The attackers used AI for 80 to 90 percent of the operation, including reconnaissance, exploit development, credential harvesting, lateral movement, and data exfiltration. Humans were only involved at key decision points. "This was not a lab demo; it was a live espionage campaign," MIT Technology Review reported. The attackers reportedly hijacked an agentic setup using Anthropic's Claude code as an automated intrusion engine.

Two recent studies have indicated that critical posts on social media platform X can serve as early warning signs of problematic scientific articles, according to Nature News. The findings suggest that post-publication commentary can help identify errors or fraudulent results. Previous research has shown that articles that are potentially problematic often receive significant attention on social media before being formally retracted, and receive more attention than similar articles that are not retracted. Er-Te Zheng, a PhD student at the University of Sheffield, UK, is studying whether social media platforms such as X could be used to identify integrity issues in articles.
