FBI Seizes RAMP, a Dark Web Forum Favored by Ransomware Criminals
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) seized RAMP, a predominantly Russian-language online bazaar that billed itself as the only place ransomware was allowed, according to Ars Technica. The takedown targeted both the dark web and clear web sites of RAMP as part of the agency's efforts to combat the growing threat of ransomware attacks against critical infrastructure and organizations worldwide.
Visits to both RAMP sites on Wednesday returned pages indicating that the FBI had taken control of the domains, which mirrored each other, Ars Technica reported. RAMP had become one of the few remaining online crime forums operating with impunity, especially after the takedown of other forums like XSS, whose leader was arrested last year by Europol. The closure of other forums left RAMP as one of the leading platforms for cybercriminals.
AI Integration Across Industries: From Immigration to Cloud Optimization
In other news, various organizations are increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their operations. United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is using Palantir’s generative AI tools to sort and summarize immigration enforcement tips submitted through its public form, according to Wired. The "AI Enhanced ICE Tip Processing service" aims to help ICE investigators quickly identify and act on urgent cases, as well as translate submissions not made in English. The system also provides a "BLUF," or bottom line up front, which is a high-level summary of the tip produced using at least one large language model. BLUF is a military term that is also used internally by some Palantir.
Meanwhile, in the realm of cloud computing, Adaptive6 emerged from stealth mode with a solution to reduce enterprise cloud waste, VentureBeat reported. The company is already optimizing Ticketmaster's cloud infrastructure. According to Gartner, public cloud spending will rise 21.3% in 2026. However, Flexera's recent State of the Cloud report indicates that up to 32% of enterprise cloud spending is wasted on duplicated, non-functional, or outdated code, as well as inefficient processes.
Airtable is also applying its data-first design philosophy to AI agents with the debut of Superagent, a standalone research agent that deploys teams of specialized AI agents working in parallel to complete research tasks, according to VentureBeat. Airtable's orchestrator maintains full visibility over the entire execution journey, including the initial plan, execution steps, and sub-agent results. Co-founder Howie Liu described this as "a coherent journey" where the orchestrator made all decisions along the way.
Western Sugar's early adoption of SAP S4HANA Cloud Public Edition is now enabling its move to AI-driven automation, VentureBeat reported. Ten years ago, the company migrated from on-premise SAP ECC to the cloud. At the time, AI was not a priority. Richard Caluori, Director of Corporate Controlling, described their previous ERP system as "a trainwreck: a heavily customized ERP system so laden with custom ABAP code that it had become unupgradable." Now, Western Sugar is uniquely positioned to take advantage of SAP's business AI capabilities across finance, supply chain, and HR.
