Tesla will discontinue production of the Model S and Model X in the second quarter of 2026, according to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla. The announcement came during an earnings call with investors, marking an abrupt end for Tesla's two original flagship electric vehicles, according to The Verge.
The decision to halt production of the Model S and Model X is reportedly to make room for robots.
In other news, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, plans to nearly double its spending on artificial intelligence (AI) projects this year. Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg said the company expects to spend up to $135 billion this year, mostly on AI-related infrastructure, according to BBC Technology. This is nearly twice the $72 billion Meta spent last year on AI projects and infrastructure. Zuckerberg anticipates "2026 to be the year that AI dramatically changes the way we work." In the last three years, the technology giant has spent roughly $140 billion in an attempt to get ahead of the AI boom.
