Croatia Declines to Join Trump's Proposed 'Board of Peace'
Croatia will not participate in U.S. President Donald Trump's "Board of Peace," Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced Wednesday. The decision comes as Trump anticipates over 50 countries joining the initiative, which appears to challenge the United Nations Security Council's traditional role in international conflict resolution, according to Euronews.
Plenković told reporters that "after thorough analyses, the position of the government...is that at this moment Croatia would not join the 'Board of Peace' for a number of reasons," Euronews reported. He did not elaborate on the specific reasons behind the decision but said he would provide further details later.
The announcement follows a week after Trump stated his expectation of widespread international participation in the "Board of Peace." The initiative's purpose and structure remain unclear, but its emergence raises questions about the future of international diplomacy and conflict resolution.
