Netflix's "Bridgerton" is set to release its fourth season in two parts, focusing on Benedict Bridgerton, the second eldest of the Bridgerton siblings, according to multiple news sources. Yerin Ha will star as Sophie Baek, Benedict's romantic interest, marking the series' first Korean lead and second Asian lead, following Simone Ashley's portrayal of Kate Sharma in Season 2 (Time).
Ha, who plays a character whose core storyline remains faithful to the original novel, received support from Ashley as she prepared for the role. "She said, 'I'm here for you if you need,'" Ha recalled, noting Ashley reached out to her first via Instagram (Time). The role places Ha in a position that brings high levels of public scrutiny, a unique experience she shares with Ashley (Time).
"Bridgerton," based on Julia Quinn's novels, follows a formulaic arc each season, according to Time. A new class of Regency London singles enters the marriage market, navigating balls under the watchful eye of a queen and a gossip columnist. Each season focuses on a different Bridgerton sibling, with romances progressing through predictable stages, including a meet-cute, will-they-or-won't-they tension, an explosion of lust, a conflict, and eventual marital bliss (Time).
In other news, the Library of Congress's National Film Registry inducted 25 films, including "Clueless," "Inception," and "The Karate Kid," recognizing their cultural significance, NPR News reported. This year's selections included a higher-than-usual number of silent films.
