During the meeting, Xi Jinping expressed his hope that the UK and China could "rise above differences," according to The Guardian. He noted that the relationship between the two countries had experienced "twists and turns" but emphasized the mutual benefit of a more consistent approach.
The two countries also signed agreements on closer economic cooperation, and China agreed to a visa waiver for British citizens, The Guardian reported.
Al Jazeera Condemns YouTube's Compliance with Israel's Ban
Al Jazeera Media Network has strongly criticized YouTube for complying with an Israeli law that bans the network's livestreams in the country. Al Jazeera stated that YouTube's actions demonstrate how major tech companies can be "co-opted as instruments of regimes hostile to freedom."
According to Al Jazeera, YouTube's submission to the ban became evident on Wednesday, following an order by Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karahi to extend an existing ban on the network's operations in Israel for 90 days.
