Andriy Korshunov, the Holocaust survivor and Ukraine war refugee, was killed when a driver in a Maserati struck him and his dog as they crossed a street in the San Fernando Valley, according to Fox News. Witnesses attempted to resuscitate Korshunov at the scene, but he was pronounced dead at a hospital. Korshunov's family said he immigrated to the U.S. after the war broke out in Ukraine.
In Brooklyn, a driver was taken into custody after allegedly ramming a vehicle into the Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters, damaging doors, Fox News reported. Motti Seligson, director of media at Chabad, told Fox News that Chabad received an outpouring of support from elected officials, including a call from Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y. The man's motive is still being investigated.
Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., was sprayed with an unknown substance at a town hall in Minneapolis. According to Fox News, a man was arrested in connection with the incident. The brother of the accused, Anthony Kazmierczak, told the Independent that his brother harbored a hatred for the Somali community for years. "I'm not surprised this happened," he said, adding that his brother and mother are "right-wing extremists."
In Denmark, Ai-Da Robot, described by Fox News as the world's first ultra-realistic robot artist, designed a modular housing concept called Ai-Da: Space Pod for future bases on the Moon and Mars at the Utzon Center. This marks the first time a humanoid robot has designed a building.
Sasha Troufanov, a former Israeli hostage held in Gaza for nearly 500 days, told the BBC that the return of Ran Gvlili's body, the final hostage, allows the released captives to "now breathe and start our lives again." Troufanov, an Amazon electronics engineer, was taken hostage on October 7, 2023, by Palestinian Islamic Jihad gunmen. His fiancée, mother, and grandmother were also kidnapped and later released. He was freed a year ago after 498 days in captivity.
