A new company called Tomorrow Doesn't Matter (TDM) is set to launch its Neo headphones, a unique gadget that transforms from headphones into a Bluetooth speaker, on Kickstarter starting February 10th, according to The Verge. The headphones, unveiled earlier this month at CES, feature a design unlike anything currently on the market.
Meanwhile, Google has made its "Genie" AI world model more widely available as "Project Genie," but only to those paying for Google's most expensive AI subscription, Ars Technica reported. Genie 3, the updated version of the AI, allows users to create interactive worlds from a simple text prompt. Last year, Google only provided Genie to a small group of trusted testers. These "world models" generate dynamic environments that respond to user control inputs, creating a video-game-like experience.
In other AI news, Wired reported on the increasing prevalence of AI-generated content, including anti-ICE videos spreading across social media. These videos depict fictional scenarios, such as a New York City school principal stopping ICE agents with a baseball bat. The videos, while clearly AI-generated, are part of a larger trend of AI-driven content creation.
Logical Intelligence, a San Francisco-based startup, appointed AI researcher Yann LeCun to its board on January 21st, Wired also reported. The company is developing an "energy-based reasoning model" that they believe is better equipped to learn, reason, and self-correct than current large language models (LLMs). LeCun, who left Meta in November, has been critical of the industry's focus on LLMs, stating that "everyone has been LLM-pilled."
