A recent study by Google revealed that advanced reasoning AI models significantly improve accuracy on complex tasks by simulating internal debates involving diverse perspectives, personality traits, and domain expertise. The research, conducted by Google and published on January 30, 2026, demonstrated that this "society of thought" approach enhances model performance in complex reasoning and planning tasks, according to VentureBeat.
The researchers found that leading reasoning models such as DeepSeek-R1 and QwQ-32B, trained via reinforcement learning (RL), inherently develop the ability to engage in these internal debates without explicit instruction. These findings offer a roadmap for developers to build more robust Large Language Model (LLM) applications and for enterprises to train superior models using their own internal data, VentureBeat reported.
In other tech news, Nvidia's Shield Android TV, first released in 2015, continues to receive updates, marking a decade of support for the device. According to Ars Technica, this long-term support is a "labor of love" for the company. A study from researchers at Stanford and Indiana University found that a significant portion of requests on the Civitaian online marketplace, backed by Andreessen Horowitz, were for deepfakes of real people, with 90% of these requests targeting women, according to MIT Technology Review. The study, which has not yet been peer-reviewed, examined requests for content on the site, called "bounties," between mid-2023 and the end of 2024. Some of these files were specifically designed to make pornographic images banned by the site.
