Donald Trump Criticizes Grammys, Trevor Noah, and SZA Following 2026 Ceremony
Former President Donald Trump publicly criticized the 68th Grammy Awards, Trevor Noah, and artist SZA following the ceremony held Sunday night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Trump took to Truth Social to express his displeasure with the show, calling it "unwatchable" and labeling host Trevor Noah a "total loser" for a joke referencing Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, according to Variety.
Trump specifically took issue with a joke Noah made about Trump and Epstein Island, stating, "It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this pathetic dope," Variety reported.
The 2026 Grammys marked Trevor Noah's final year hosting the event, a role he held since 2021, according to Time. The broadcast also marked the end of a long-standing partnership with CBS, which had aired the show for over 50 years. Next year, the Grammys will move to ABC, Hulu, and Disney, Time reported.
SZA, who won Record of the Year for "Luther," also made headlines after using her acceptance speech to address attacks on immigrants in the United States. Speaking to Variety after her win, SZA stated, "It’s always been F— Ice… People are getting snatched up." She urged unity in the face of despair, according to Variety.
The ceremony also saw Billie Eilish and others wearing ICE Out pins, and Kehlani used her award win to tell artists to speak against all injustice in the world, Variety reported.
The online backlash comes as emails between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Jeffrey Epstein were released by the Justice Department on Friday, according to Time. The emails, sent in 2012 and 2013, revealed Musk expressed interest in visiting Epstein's Caribbean island. Musk acknowledged the emails' authenticity on X, but denied any close connection to Epstein, Time reported. "No one pushed harder than me to have the Epstein files released and I’m glad that has finally happened," Musk said on X.
The 68th Grammy Awards also featured Kendrick Lamar leading nominations with nine nods, followed by Lady Gaga, Cirkut, and Jack Antonoff with seven, and Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter with six, according to Time.
