'Today' Show Host Savannah Guthrie's Mother Missing; Arizona Home Declared Crime Scene
Authorities in Arizona are investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie, after evidence of a crime was discovered at her home. The Pima County Sheriff's Department is treating the case as a crime and has urged the public to assist in the search.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area on Saturday night, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Her family reported her missing on Sunday around noon local time. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters on Monday that investigators processed her home and "saw some things at the home that were concerning to us." He added, "We believe now after we've processed that crime scene that we do in fact have a crime scene, that we do in fact have a crime, and we're asking the community's help."
Sheriff Nanos urged neighbors to review home video camera footage and asked anyone who thinks they see Nancy Guthrie to take a picture or record a video and alert authorities. A missing person's flier from the sheriff's department described her as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes, weighing 150 pounds. According to the sheriff's department, Nancy Guthrie "is very limited in her mobility" and "we know she didn't j."
"We don't see this as a search mission, as much as we do a crime scene," Nanos stated. The investigation is ongoing.
