Notepad++, the popular open-source text editor, confirmed that its software updates were hijacked by hackers believed to be associated with the Chinese government for several months in 2025, according to a blog post published Monday by developer Don Ho. The cyberattack, which occurred between June and December 2025, involved the delivery of malicious updates to users. Ho cited multiple analyses by security experts who examined the malware payloads and attack patterns, suggesting the highly selective targeting seen during the campaign was indicative of state-sponsored activity. Firaxis Games announced plans to revamp Civilization VII, which launched nearly a year ago. The developer will release an update this spring called "Test of Time" that rethinks unpopular changes and replaces key mechanics from the original release.
