'Today' Show Host Savannah Guthrie's Mother Missing; Arizona Home Declared Crime Scene
Authorities in Arizona are investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie, and have declared her home a crime scene. The Pima County Sheriff's Department reported that Nancy Guthrie was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area on Saturday night and was reported missing by her family around noon on Sunday, according to ABC News.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters on Monday that investigators processed Nancy Guthrie's home on Sunday and found concerning evidence. "We saw some things at the home that were concerning to us," Nanos said, according to CBS News. "We believe now after we've processed that crime scene that we do in fact have a crime scene, that we do in fact have a crime, and we're asking the community's help." ABC News reported that Nanos stated, "We don't see this as a search mission, as much as we do a crime scene."
A missing person's flier from the sheriff's department described Nancy Guthrie as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, CBS News reported. Authorities noted that she has limited mobility and likely did not leave on her own.
Sheriff Nanos urged the public to assist in the search, asking anyone who believes they see Nancy Guthrie to take a picture or video and immediately contact authorities, according to CBS News. The investigation is ongoing.
