Cloud data company Snowflake and OpenAI entered into a multi-year, $200 million AI deal, signaling an intensification of competition in the enterprise AI sector, according to TechCrunch. The agreement, announced Monday, will provide Snowflake's 12,600 customers with access to OpenAI models across major cloud providers.
The deal includes Snowflake employees gaining access to OpenAI's ChatGPT Enterprise, TechCrunch reported. The two companies are also collaborating to develop new AI agents and other AI products.
"By bringing OpenAI models to enterprise data, Snowflake enables organizations to build and deploy AI on top of their most valuable asset using the secure, governed platform they already trust," Snowflake CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy said in a press release, according to TechCrunch.
In other news, a social media network designed for artificial intelligence, called Moltbook, launched in late January, according to BBC Technology. Created by Matt Schlicht, head of commerce platform Octane AI, Moltbook allows AI to post, comment, and create communities known as "submolts." While humans are welcome to observe, they are not permitted to post. Moltbook claims to have 1.5 million users and features communities discussing various topics, similar to Reddit, BBC Technology reported.
Meanwhile, in Iran, outrage erupted over a television program that mocked protesters killed during January protests, Euronews reported. The program, titled "Khat-Khati" (Scribbles), aired on Ofogh TV, a channel affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Tehran Prosecutor brought charges against the director, production team, and host of Ofogh TV, Euronews stated.
