Tech Figures Entangled in Newly Released Epstein Files
A new trove of documents released by the Department of Justice (DOJ) last week, related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has revealed the extent of Epstein's connections to wealthy and influential figures in Silicon Valley, including Elon Musk and Peter Thiel. The release, totaling approximately 3.5 million pages, comes in response to the Epstein Files Transparency Act of November 19, 2025, and paints a detailed portrait of Epstein's network.
The files show that a number of tech elites continued to interact with Epstein even after his 2008 guilty plea for solicitation of prostitution and of procurement of minors to engage in prostitution, according to Wired. While some figures, like Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, have long been associated with Epstein rumors, the newly released documents shed light on the connections of others, such as Elon Musk.
Specifically, the revelations that Musk sought an invite to Epstein's island add risk to his plans to merge SpaceX with xAI, and then take the combined company public, experts say, according to The Verge.
The files also detail the extent of Peter Thiel's interactions with Epstein. Wired reported that Thiel appears at least 2,200 times in the released documents and arranged to meet with Epstein several times between 2014 and 2017. The documents also noted Thiel's elaborate dietary restrictions.
The release of these files does not necessarily imply wrongdoing by those named. Wired noted that a name appearing in the Epstein files does not mean that person is guilty of any crime.
The DOJ's release appears to be the final tranche of files related to Epstein, according to Wired. The documents are expected to continue to be scrutinized for further details about Epstein's network and the individuals associated with him.
