Judge Blocks DHS from Ending Deportation Protections for Haitians
A federal judge on Monday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for approximately 350,000 Haitians, one day before the protections were set to expire, according to CBS News. U.S. District Court Judge Ana Reyes issued an order indefinitely pausing the planned termination of Haiti's TPS program, explicitly barring the federal government from invalidating the legal status and work permits of active enrollees and from arresting and deporting them.
Judge Reyes strongly criticized Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's decision to end the TPS policy for Haitians. In her opinion, Reyes concluded that Noem's decision was "arbitrary and capricious" and violated the Administrative Procedures Act, according to CBS News.

The organization sued in July after President Donald Trump signed a spending bill that included prohibiting federal funding from going to abortion providers, a section of the legislation that Planned Parenthood attorneys argued unfairly targeted their clinics and would leave patients with even fewer health care options.
Attorney General Pam Bondi criticized former CNN anchor Don Lemon on "Hannity" Monday for defending his "illegal" actions at a Minnesota church anti-ICE protest as an "act of journalism," Fox News reported. "So, anyone with a camera then would be allowed, under his Lemons theory, to come in and attack a church like that and riot a church on a Sunday morning," she said. "You can't do that in this country. It's illegal, we're going to prosecute you, and you will be held accountable. Doesn't matter if you're a fa
Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said Republicans "done eff'd up in Texas," accusing the GOP of overreaching on redistricting and predicting they will fall well short of flipping five congressional seats, Fox News reported. During a news conference at the U.S. Capitol, Jeffries was asked about a recent Texas state senate race in which a Democrat flipped a seat in a district President Donald Trump carried in 2020. Jeffries was also pressed on whether Democrats could.
