Speedskater Erin Jackson and bobsledder Frank Del Duca were chosen as the U.S. flagbearers for the Milan Cortina Olympics opening ceremony on Friday, according to CBS News. Jackson is the first Black woman to win an individual gold medal at a Winter Olympics. Del Duca, a sergeant in the Army, is the first bobsledder in 70 years to carry the U.S. flag.

Sens. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., and Susan Collins, R-Maine, warned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth against relocating and reducing resources for a Pentagon team charged with investigating so-called "Anomalous Health Incidents," or AHI, colloquially known as Havana Syndrome, according to CBS News.
In a letter sent to Hegseth on Monday, Shaheen and Collins raised concerns about reported plans within the Department of Defense to shift the cross-functional team, known as a CFT, that coordinates the department's response to the Havana Syndrome out of its current position under the Office of the Under Secretary for Policy, CBS News reported.

Chuck Negron, a founding member of Three Dog Night whose lead vocals powered a string of hits including "Joy to the World," "One" and "An Old Fashioned Love Song" for one of the top rock acts of the late 1960s and early '70s, died Monday, according to CBS News. He was 83.
He died of complications from heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at his home in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to his publicist Zach Farnum, CBS News reported.
