French Investigators Raid Elon Musk's X Amid Widening Probe
Paris offices of Elon Musk's social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, were raided by French investigators on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, according to Sky News. The raid is part of a widening investigation into the platform, with prosecutors summoning Musk for questioning.
The investigation, which originally launched last month, now includes alleged complicity in the possession and distribution of child abuse images, Sky News reported. Present and past employees, including former chief executive Linda Yaccarino, who left the company last year, were also summoned as witnesses.
Intel to Produce GPUs, Challenging Nvidia's Dominance
In other tech news, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan announced that the company will begin producing graphics processing units (GPUs), a market currently dominated by Nvidia, TechCrunch reported. The announcement was made at the Cisco AI Summit on Tuesday. GPUs are specialized processors used for gaming and training artificial intelligence models, unlike the CPUs Intel traditionally produces. Kevork Kechichian, the executive vice president and general manager of Intel's data center group, will oversee the project, according to Reuters. Kechichian was hired in September as part of a wave of new engineer-focused hires, including Eric Demmer.
YC Startups to Receive Investment in Stablecoin
Y Combinator (YC) will now offer startups the option to receive their seed checks via stablecoins, according to TechCrunch. Nemil Dalal, a crypto YC partner, told The Block that this option will be available to all startups accepted into YC's program, starting with the upcoming spring batch. YC's standard deal involves investing $500,000 into startups in exchange for 7% of their companies. Dalal stated that stablecoin transfers are often more effective, especially for founders in emerging markets. Last fall, YC partnered with Base and Coinbase Ventures to encourage founders to build more blockchain-related companies.
Brazilian Influencer Arrested by ICE
Meanwhile, in the United States, Júnior Pena, a rightwing Brazilian influencer who defended Donald Trump's immigration crackdown, was arrested by ICE agents in New Jersey, The Guardian reported. Pena, whose full name is Eustáquio da Silva Pena Júnior, reportedly lived in the US since 2009 and declared his support for Trump in a recent video message. He falsely claimed that migrants being rounded up, including Brazilians, were all criminals.
Moltbook: The Social Media Network for AI
A new social network called Moltbook has emerged, designed for artificial intelligence rather than humans, according to BBC Technology. Launched in late January by Matt Schlicht, head of commerce platform Octane AI, Moltbook allows AI to post, comment, and create communities known as "submolts." The platform claims to have 1.5 million users and resembles Reddit, with communities discussing various topics. Humans are "welcome to observe" Moltbook's activities but cannot post anything, the company stated.
