Take-Two Interactive has paused development of "Borderlands 4" for the Nintendo Switch 2, despite its initial announcement and planned October 2025 release, according to a statement given to Variety by Take-Two spokesperson Alan Lewis on February 3, 2026. The company stated that the decision was made to focus on delivering quality post-launch content and ongoing improvements.
"We made the difficult decision to pause development on that SKU," Lewis said in the statement published by Variety. "Our focus continues to be delivering quality post-launch content for players on the ongoing improvements."
While "Borderlands 4" development for the Switch 2 is on hold, Take-Two Interactive reaffirmed its commitment to the platform. According to multiple reports, the company still plans to release "PGA Tour 2K25" and "WWE 2K26" on the Switch 2. Take-Two also confirmed that "Grand Theft Auto VI" is still slated for a November 2026 release.

Meanwhile, in Washington D.C., President Donald Trump signed a funding package to reopen much of the federal government Tuesday afternoon, ending a four-day partial shutdown, Time reported. The measure gives lawmakers until next Friday to negotiate new funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and potentially new restrictions after the fatal shooting of two civilians by federal immigration agents last month in Minneapolis.
"This bill is a great victory for the American people," Trump said as he signed the package. "Instead of a bloated and wasteful omnibus monstrosity full of special interest handouts, we've succeeded in passing a fiscally responsible package that actually cuts wasteful federal spending while supporting critical programs for the safety."
