SXSW 2026 Announces Second Wave of Programming, The Comeback Returns
South by Southwest (SXSW) 2026 announced a second wave of programming for its film and TV lineup on February 4, 2026, according to Variety. Among the additions is Season 3 of "The Comeback," the comedy series starring Lisa Kudrow and created by Michael Patrick King. The show originally premiered in 2005 and returned for a second season after a long hiatus.
The festival will also feature the bloody ballerina thriller "Pretty Lethal" and a documentary about Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist Hillel Slovak, Variety reported.
In other news, The Boxoffice Company, a global theatrical marketing service, launched a Cinema Advertising Network to assist movie studios in running film marketing campaigns in partnership with theater owners, according to Variety. The network includes over 20 exhibitors, such as BB Theatres, Emagine Entertainment, and Showcase Cinemas, allowing theaters to directly showcase their showtimes within movie ads.
Meanwhile, the Rotterdam International Film Festival's industry program, IFFR Pro, focused on displaced filmmakers and a strong Brazilian and Southeast Asian presence, Variety noted. New projects by filmmakers behind "Leonor Will Never Die" and "Samba Infinito" were also highlighted.
