Nike Faces US Investigation Over Alleged Discrimination Against White Workers
Nike is under investigation by the U.S. government following claims that the footwear giant discriminated against white employees. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency responsible for enforcing workplace discrimination laws, announced Wednesday that it had demanded company records dating back to 2018, including data on race and ethnicity, to determine if such information influenced executive pay, according to BBC Business.
The EEOC is examining claims that Nike engaged "in a pattern or practice of disparate treatment against white employees, applicants, and training program participants," court documents show, as reported by BBC Business. The investigation was prompted by allegations of discrimination against white workers.
Nike stated that it was "committed to fair and lawful employment practices," and called the inquiry "a surprising and unusual request," according to BBC Business.

Pinterest told investors the move would impact about 15% of the workforce, or roughly 700 roles, without specifying which teams or workers would be affected, according to BBC Technology. The engineers reportedly "wrote custom scripts improperly accessing confidential company information to identify the locations and names of all dismissed employees," BBC Technology reported.
