Search Intensifies for Savannah Guthrie's Missing Mother; FBI Offers $50,000 Reward
The search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of "Today" show co-host Savannah Guthrie, intensified as the FBI joined the investigation and offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to her recovery or the arrest and conviction of those involved in her disappearance. Nancy Guthrie is believed to have been abducted from her Arizona home early Sunday, according to authorities.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated during a Thursday news conference that investigators believe Nancy Guthrie is "still out there" and emphasized the desire to bring her home. "Right now, we believe Nancy is still out there," Nanos told reporters. "We want her home."
The FBI confirmed they are jointly investigating the case. Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's field office in Phoenix, Heith Janke, said investigators are taking a ransom note seriously, which included a deadline of 5 p.m. Thursday. The time zone was not specified in the note, according to Janke. The FBI also announced an arrest in an "imposter" ransom demand, according to ABC News.
The search for Nancy Guthrie entered its fifth day on Thursday. As of Thursday, no suspect or person of interest had been identified in the case, according to Sheriff Nanos.
