Roblox is making a push to attract adult players to its platform, while other tech companies are focused on AI development and infrastructure. Reddit is exploring AI-powered search as a potential revenue stream, and venture capitalists are advising caution amidst the AI investment boom.
Roblox announced plans to increase its adult user base by prioritizing high-fidelity shooters, RPGs, sports, and racing games, according to The Verge. This shift follows the rollout of age verification last year. The company's 2025 year-end earnings report indicated that 45% of its daily active users are over 18.
Meanwhile, Reddit is eyeing AI search as a significant opportunity for its business. During the company's fourth-quarter earnings call on Thursday, Reddit suggested that merging traditional and AI search could be a major revenue driver, according to TechCrunch. CEO Steve Huffman stated that Reddit is particularly strong in answering questions that require multiple perspectives, noting, "Theres a type of query were, I think, particularly good at I would argue, the best on the internet which is questions that have no answers, where the answer actually is multiple perspectives from lots of people."
Amazon and Google are heavily investing in AI infrastructure. Amazon projects $200 billion in capital expenditures through 2026 across AI, chips, robotics, and low earth orbit satellites, up from $131.8 billion in 2025, TechCrunch reported. The focus on building data centers reflects the belief that greater compute power will lead to superior AI products.
However, amidst the AI investment surge, some venture capitalists are urging caution. Jennifer Li, a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, warned against fixating on high annual recurring revenue (ARR) numbers. "Not all ARR is created equal, and not all growth is equal either," Li said on TechCrunch's Equity podcast, advising founders to be especially wary of ARR mania.
In related news, Sapiom, a San Francisco startup, raised $15 million to develop tools that help AI agents connect to external tech services. Founded by Ilan Zerbib, former director of engineering for payments at Shopify, Sapiom aims to simplify the integration of applications with services like SMS, email, and payment processing for non-technical creators, according to TechCrunch.
