AI Takes Center Stage in Super Bowl Ads and Beyond
In a sign of AI's growing influence, the 2026 Super Bowl saw a surge in advertisements leveraging the technology, with brands like Svedka Vodka making bold moves. Simultaneously, Apple is reportedly working to integrate third-party AI apps, including those from OpenAI and Anthropic, into CarPlay, expanding the reach of these technologies. These developments, along with new integrations for AI tools like Claude, highlight the rapid expansion of AI across various sectors.
Svedka Vodka's Super Bowl ad, titled "Shake Your Bots Off," was touted as the first primarily AI-generated national Super Bowl spot, according to TechCrunch. The 30-second commercial featured the brand's robot character, Fembot, and her companion, Brobot, dancing at a party. This follows a trend from the previous year of showcasing AI in multimillion-dollar ad spots.
Beyond the Super Bowl, AI is making inroads in other areas. WordPress launched a new Claude connector, allowing site owners to share back-end data with Anthropic's chatbot system, as reported by TechCrunch. Users can control which data they share and revoke access as needed. Claude will have read-only access initially, but WordPress previously indicated that write access might be added in the future, potentially allowing users to conduct editorial tasks directly from the chatbot.
Apple is also exploring ways to integrate AI into its CarPlay system. According to Bloomberg, Apple is working to add support for voice-controlled third-party AI apps from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others, as reported by The Verge. This would allow CarPlay users to access their chatbot of choice instead of Siri. Previously, users had to go through their iPhone to access third-party chatbots in the car.
The increasing presence of AI is also evident in the consumer market. The Verge highlighted deals on various tech gifts for Valentine's Day, including smart home gear, soundbars, smartwatches, and e-readers. Additionally, The Verge's "Installer" newsletter featured an AI bookmarking app, showcasing the diverse applications of AI in everyday life.
