Iran Threatens US Bases, Zelensky Eyes June War End

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that Tehran would target U.S. bases in the region if American forces launched an attack, according to a report. The statement came after Araghchi said indirect nuclear talks with the U.S. in Oman were "a good start." In other news, a Russian general was shot in Moscow and is now conscious after surgery, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated the U.S. wants the war with Russia to end by June.

Araghchi's warning was reported by Fox News, following his comments on the ongoing nuclear negotiations. He stated that while attacking American soil would not be possible, Iran would target U.S. bases in the region if attacked. The talks in Oman were described as a "good start," with a consensus to continue the negotiations.

Meanwhile, in Moscow, Lt. Gen. Vladimir Alexeyev, Russia's deputy head of military intelligence, was shot multiple times in his apartment building on Friday. Russian media reported that he regained consciousness after surgery. Two suspects were arrested and will be questioned. Russian officials have blamed Kyiv for the shooting, but Ukraine's foreign minister denied involvement, as reported by Reuters.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the U.S. wants the war with Russia to end by June. He added that both sides had been invited to the U.S. for talks next week. According to BBC World, Zelensky stated that the meeting would likely take place in Miami. There was no immediate comment from Washington or Moscow.

In other news, a man was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Vice President JD Vance. Shannon Mathre, 33, was arrested on Friday for allegedly threatening Vance during his visit to Northwest Ohio in January. The DOJ stated that Mathre was also found with child sexual abuse materials.

Additionally, Senator Raphael Warnock linked preachers and journalists as he defended Don Lemon amid controversy over his arrest in connection with an anti-ICE protest. "I'd be interested to hear from these pastors if they want to see a journalist arrested protecting, you know, in their name," Warnock said on Lemon's show.
