AI is poised to take center stage at Super Bowl LX, with several companies planning to showcase their technology during the commercial breaks, according to The Verge. The game, featuring the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, is scheduled for Sunday, February 8th, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. While Bad Bunny will headline the halftime show, the advertising landscape is expected to be dominated by artificial intelligence, much like the rise of crypto in previous years.
The Verge reported that one ad will be for Anthropic's AI platform, which will take aim at competitors, including OpenAI. AI-generated ads may also make an appearance during the game. This follows last year's Super Bowl, which featured a Google Gemini ad that, according to The Verge, "fumbled a Gouda cheese stat."
Beyond the Super Bowl, AI continues to make strides in other areas. Ars Technica reported that Anthropic researchers used 16 instances of the company's Claude Opus 4.6 AI model to build a C compiler from scratch. Over two weeks, the AI agents worked on a shared codebase with minimal supervision, completing the project after nearly 2,000 Claude Code sessions, which cost approximately $20,000 in API fees.
However, the use of AI is not without its challenges. Ars Technica also reported that a New York federal judge terminated a case due to a lawyer's repeated misuse of AI in drafting filings. Judge Katherine Polk Failla ruled that extraordinary sanctions were warranted after attorney Steven Feldman repeatedly submitted documents containing fake citations. One of Feldman's filings was noted for its "conspicuously florid prose," according to the judge.
In other tech news, Wired published a list of the best vacuum cleaners, covering various categories, including cordless stick vacuums, robot vacuums, and those designed for pet hair. The article highlighted models from brands like Shark, Eufy, and Dyson, offering recommendations based on extensive testing.
