Amazon MGM Studios released a final trailer for "Project Hail Mary," the upcoming space odyssey based on Andy Weir's bestselling novel, just as many Americans were focused on the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics. The studio, which acquired the rights to Weir's novel before its publication, tapped Drew Goddard to write the screenplay, according to Ars Technica.
The film, based on Weir's 2021 novel, follows an amnesiac biologist-turned-schoolteacher in space. Goddard, who also wrote the adapted screenplay for "The Martian," was an excellent choice for the project, Ars Technica reported.
In other entertainment news, the upcoming high-end Sky series "Gucci: Game Over," described as Italy's answer to Ridley Scott's "House of Gucci" film, has set its key cast, Variety reported. Miriam Leone will play Patrizia Reggiani, the former socialite convicted of hiring a hit.
Also, Keira Knightley, Alicia Vikander, Jamie Dornan, and Erin Kellyman will star in the dark comedy "The Worst," which is the directorial debut of Simon Woods, according to Variety. Protagonist Pictures and Logical Pictures International are launching the "class satire" at the EFM in Berlin.
