Amazon MGM Studios released a final trailer for its upcoming space odyssey "Project Hail Mary," based on Andy Weir's bestselling novel, while also casting Callum Vinson as Atreus in its "God of War" live-action series, according to multiple sources. The studio is also launching the live-action adaptation of the "Blue Lock" soccer manga, and the Winter Olympics are underway.
The "Project Hail Mary" trailer drop came just as many Americans were focused on the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics, according to Ars Technica. The film, which Amazon MGM Studios acquired the rights to before the novel's publication, is written by Drew Goddard, who also adapted the screenplay for "The Martian."
Meanwhile, the "God of War" series, set to air on Amazon Prime Video, has cast Vinson as the young god Atreus, Variety reported. Vinson will star opposite Ryan Hurst, who plays Kratos. Additional cast members include Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, and Alastair Duncan.
The live-action adaptation of the "Blue Lock" soccer manga has revealed its cast ahead of its global sales launch at Berlin's European Film Market through Goodfellas' sports label Round 12, Variety also reported. Toho has scheduled a theatrical release in Japan on August 7 across approximately 350 screens.
In other news, the Winter Olympics continue to captivate audiences, with the United States fixating on its figure skating champions, as noted by Time. The sport, however, is fueled by immense physical and mental stressors, financial sacrifice, and restrictive expectations.
