House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer expressed disappointment following the deposition, stating, "This is obviously very disappointing." He added that the committee had "many questions to ask about the crimes she and Epstein committed, as well as questions about potential co-conspirators." The committee's investigation aims to uncover the truth for the American people and provide justice for survivors, Comer said.
Representative Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, shared a blunt message regarding the investigation, stating, "We're gonna be on his ass," referring to President Donald Trump. This comment came after the deposition concluded.
The deposition was part of an ongoing investigation into Epstein's crimes. Survivors of Epstein have also called for the full release of files related to the case. In a 40-second video released by the World Without Exploitation group, survivors held up photographs of their younger selves and said, "we all deserve the truth." The US Department of Justice (DOJ) was required by law to make all the files public in December last year, but only some have been released, many with redactions. The DOJ stated that files not published were either unrelated, duplicates, or withheld under deliberative process.
