Warpaint, a cosmetics rival, acquired Barry M, one of Britain's last family-run makeup brands, putting 100 jobs at risk and leading to the closure of Barry M's factory in London, according to BBC Business. The acquisition, valued at 1.4 million, came after Barry M, founded in 1982, collapsed earlier this month.
Barry M, known for its eye-catching colors and favored by makeup fans and drag queens, was stocked in approximately 1,300 shops across the UK, BBC Business reported. The brand, inspired by the punk and New Romantic movements, struggled to innovate and was overtaken by competitors, analysts said. Dean Mero had run Barry M since his father, Barry Mero, passed away in 2014.
