A Southern California beach town is set to become the first city in the country to use an AI system to detect bike lane violations, while NASA continues to grapple with technical issues related to its Artemis II mission. The City of Santa Monica will deploy Hayden AI's scanning technology in its parking enforcement fleet beginning in April, according to Ars Technica, while NASA prepares for a second countdown rehearsal for Artemis II, which has been delayed due to a hydrogen fuel leak.
Santa Monica will equip seven parking enforcement vehicles with the AI system, expanding on similar cameras already used on city buses. "The more we can reduce the amount of illegal parking, the safer we can make it for bike riders," said Charley Territo, chief growth officer at Hayden AI, as reported by Ars Technica. The Artemis II mission, which remains on the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, is the first crewed flight of the Space Launch System rocket and is slated to be the first crew mission to land on the Moon since the Apollo program more than 50 years ago.
NASA is working to resolve a hydrogen fuel leak that cut short a practice countdown run on February 2nd, according to Ars Technica. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said the agency is exploring ways to prevent the fueling problems that have plagued the Space Launch System rocket before the Artemis III mission. Artemis III is slated to be the first crew mission to land on the Moon since the Apollo program more than 50 years ago.
