OpenAI is making waves with key personnel additions and expanding its global reach, while also facing legal challenges and navigating the evolving landscape of enterprise AI. These developments come as the company continues to grow and innovate in the rapidly changing tech industry.
Peter Steinberger, the creator of the AI personal assistant OpenClaw, has joined OpenAI, according to TechCrunch. Steinberger, who previously changed the assistant's name from Clawdbot and Moltbot, cited a desire to "change the world, not build a large company" as his motivation for the move. Meanwhile, OpenAI is also experiencing significant growth in India, with CEO Sam Altman announcing 100 million weekly active ChatGPT users in the country, as reported by TechCrunch. This makes India one of OpenAI's largest markets globally. Altman made the announcement ahead of the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where OpenAI is formally participating. The company opened a New Delhi office in August 2025.
However, OpenAI is also facing legal challenges. David Greene, the former host of NPR's Morning Edition, is suing Google, alleging that the male podcast voice in Google's NotebookLM tool is based on his voice, according to TechCrunch. Greene stated that he became convinced the voice replicated his cadence and intonation. A Google spokesperson told the publication that the voice is unrelated to Greene's.
The enterprise AI landscape is also seeing significant shifts. TechCrunch reported that the battle for enterprise AI is heating up, with companies like Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic all vying for dominance. Glean, a company focused on building an AI-powered search tool for enterprises, is shifting its strategy to become the "connective tissue" between AI models and enterprise systems.
In other news, Rivian's fourth-quarter and full-year earnings revealed that software, and specifically its technology joint venture with Volkswagen Group, was the company's "savior" in 2025, according to TechCrunch. The company expects to receive another $2 billion from VW Group in 2026.
