Canada, China Trade Tariffs: EVs for Farm Goods
Canada and China have reached a trade agreement where Canada will reduce tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, initially capped at 49,000 vehicles, in exchange for China lowering tariffs on Canadian farm products like canola seeds. Prime Minister Carney cited the need to focus on areas of alignment with China, while President Xi Jinping expressed willingness to improve relations between the two countries after a period of strained ties. The agreement sets the Chinese tariff on canola seeds at 15%.
