
Bulgaria joins Eurozone: ATMs dispense euros for first time
Bulgaria, a former Soviet-aligned nation and one of the EU's poorer members, has adopted the euro, marking a significant step in its integration with Europe after transitioning to a market economy. This milestone, however, occurs amidst domestic political turmoil and public apprehension, with nationalist factions exploiting fears of economic hardship and loss of cultural identity due to the currency change. Bulgaria is the 21st member of the Eurozone.
