Multiple news sources report that China is proposing strict new regulations for AI, aiming to protect children, prevent harmful content generation (like advice leading to self-harm or promotion of gambling), and safeguard national security. The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) will require AI firms to implement personalized settings, time limits, and guardian consent for certain services, while also encouraging AI adoption for beneficial purposes like promoting local culture and elderly companionship, provided the technology is safe.
