Pebble is set to release the Pebble Round 2, a refreshed version of its thinnest smartwatch, following the launch of its revived Pebble smartwatch and a budget-friendly AI smart ring. The Pebble Round 2, priced at $199, features a rounded screen design aimed at providing a more premium aesthetic while maintaining affordability, a hallmark of Pebble devices.
The new smartwatch focuses on core functionalities, offering basic health and activity tracking, including step counting and sleep monitoring. However, to keep costs down and extend battery life, the Pebble Round 2 omits a heart rate sensor and other advanced features typically found in fitness-oriented smartwatches. According to Pebble, the device is expected to deliver between 10 and 14 days of battery life on a single charge.
The Pebble Round 2 is a successor to the Pebble Time Round, originally launched in 2015. The company had touted the original as the thinnest smartwatch on the market. The new model retains a slim profile, measuring just 8.1 mm in thickness, a slight increase from the original's 7.5 mm. Like the recently announced Pebble Time 2, the Round 2 represents the company's strategy of reviving older, popular models with updated technology. The company hopes to appeal to consumers seeking a balance between style, functionality, and affordability in the smartwatch market.
