Two police officers relived the January 6th Capitol attack through their own bodycam footage. NPR Investigations presented the footage five years after the event. Officers Michael Fanone and Daniel Hodges reviewed the videos with NPR correspondent Tom Dreisbach.

The officers defended the Capitol from a mob of Trump supporters on January 6, 2021. The attack left 140 officers injured. Fanone and Hodges faced brutal violence in a tunnel. Rioters wielded flagpoles, stun guns, and chemical sprays.

Both officers report ongoing physical and psychological damage. They also report receiving death threats. Fanone and Hodges have been called "crisis actors." They believe Trump's pardon of Jan. 6 rioters worsened their trauma.
