X Blocks Grok AI From Undressing Images After Backlash
Elon Musk's social media platform X implemented technological measures to prevent its Grok AI model from editing photos of real people to show them in revealing clothing in jurisdictions where it is illegal. The move came after widespread concern over sexualized AI deepfakes.
X announced that it had "implemented technological measures to prevent the Grok account from allowing the editing of images of real people in revealing clothing." The announcement followed calls for X to control its AI tool, including from UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
The UK government claimed "vindication" following the ban. A spokesperson for UK regulator Ofcom called it a "welcome development."
Musk launched Grok on X in 2023.
