Syrian army forces moved into areas east of Aleppo, including the town of Deir Hafer, following the withdrawal of Kurdish forces, according to multiple news sources. The redeployment of Syrian troops occurred after negotiations involving U.S. officials and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

The Syrian army declared full military control of Deir Hafer, a town approximately 50km (30 miles) from Aleppo, and urged civilians to avoid the area while they secured it. The Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia announced on Friday that it would redeploy east of the Euphrates river.

President al-Sharaa pledged to recognize Kurdish as a national language and integrate Kurdish military and civilian bodies into Syrian national institutions. This pledge was part of the agreement that led to the Kurdish forces' withdrawal. The U.S. had urged both sides to avoid confrontation after deadly clashes last week.
