NASA's Artemis II mission is one step closer to launch. The Space Launch System rocket will roll out Saturday morning. It will emerge from Kennedy Space Center's Vehicle Assembly Building around 7:00 am EST.
The massive rocket will travel to Launch Complex 39B. The journey will take eight to ten hours. NASA's crawler transporter will carry the rocket. This rollout is a major milestone.
Artemis II is the first crewed lunar mission since Apollo 17. The four astronauts will orbit the Moon. They will venture farther from Earth than any humans before.
The Artemis program aims to establish a long-term lunar presence. This mission is a critical test. It paves the way for future lunar landings.
Next, teams will conduct final checks at the launch pad. Launch is currently scheduled for late 2024.
