Nintendo's Switch became the company's best-selling console of all time, surpassing the Nintendo DS in lifetime sales, according to Nintendo's latest earnings release on February 3, 2026. As of December 31, 2025, the Nintendo Switch had sold 155.37 million units since its launch in 2017, exceeding the DS's 154.02 million units, according to The Verge.
In other tech news, Elon Musk's rocket and satellite company, SpaceX, was acquiring his AI startup, xAI, according to an announcement made by Musk on Monday, Wired reported. Musk stated in a blog post that the acquisition was necessary because global electricity demand for AI could not be met with terrestrial solutions, and Silicon Valley would soon need to build data centers in space to power its AI ambitions. "In the long term, space-based AI is obviously the only way to scale," Musk wrote. "The only logical solution therefore is to transport these resource-intensive efforts to a location with vast power and space. I mean, space is called space for a reason." The deal values the combined entity at $1.25 trillion, making it the most valuable private company, according to Wired.
Meanwhile, Palantir Technologies declared itself "an n of 1 in the artificial intelligence software market" on Monday, Fortune reported. The data analytics group announced record quarterly results, causing its shares to surge nearly 8% in late trading. CEO Alex Karp stated on the earnings call that Palantir's performance was "one of the truly iconic performances in the history of corporate performance or technology." He argued that Palantir's results would be "stellar, unusual, and sublime."
