In other news, Minnesota investigators are facing challenges in another case. The FBI has formally refused to share evidence and information in the killing of Alex Pretti, according to Minnesota's top investigative agency, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA). The BCA said the FBI's refusal to cooperate is "concerning and unprecedented." The FBI has also withheld evidence in the federal killing of Renee Good and the shooting of a Venezuelan national last month. BCA Superintendent Drew Evans said, "Our agency has committed to the FBI and Department of Justice that should its stance change we remain willing to share information that we have obtained with that agency and would welcome a joint investigation."
Meanwhile, the search continues for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who investigators say appears to have been kidnapped from her Tucson, Arizona, home on Sunday, Feb. 1. The FBI released photos and videos of an armed person in a mask in front of her home, appearing to tamper with a security camera, according to ABC News. FBI Director Kash Patel released a surveillance photo, Feb. 10, 2026, showing a potential subject in investigation of the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. The Guthrie family has been cleared as possible suspects, according to the sheriff.
In a separate, unusual incident, an injured seabird sought help by pecking at the door of an emergency room at a hospital in Germany until medical staff noticed it and called firefighters to help with its rescue, according to The Associated Press. The cormorant, a shiny black waterbird, had a triple fishing hook stuck in its beak when it made its presence known at the glass door of the Klinikum Links der Weser hospital in the northern city of Bremen on Sunday. Medical staff and firefighters removed the fishhook and treated the wound, and the bird was later released back into the wild.
