Ricursive Intelligence, a startup founded by former Google Brain engineers Anna Goldie and Azalia Mirhoseini, secured a staggering $335 million in funding at a $4 billion valuation just four months after its launch, according to TechCrunch. The company, led by CEO Goldie and CTO Mirhoseini, previously worked at Google Brain and Anthropic, where they developed AI tools, including the Alpha Chip, which could generate chip layouts in hours.
The founders' expertise in AI is well-known within the industry. Goldie told TechCrunch that they even received "weird emails" from Mark Zuckerberg with job offers, which they declined. Their previous work at Google included creating the Alpha Chip, an AI tool that could design chip layouts much faster than human designers. This tool was used to design three generations of Google's Tensor Processing Units.
In other AI news, India is hosting a four-day AI Impact Summit this week, as reported by TechCrunch. The event aims to attract more AI investment to the country and will be attended by executives from major AI labs and Big Tech companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Nvidia, Microsoft, Google, and Cloudflare. The summit expects 250,000 visitors and will feature prominent figures such as Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. India has earmarked $1.1 billion for its state-backed venture capital fund, which will invest in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.
