Two people were killed and three others critically injured in a targeted shooting at an ice skating rink in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on Monday afternoon, according to police. The suspect, identified as Robert Dorgan, also known as Roberta Esposito, died at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves said. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena, about five miles outside of Providence.
The shooting appeared to be a "targeted" incident involving a family dispute, Chief Goncalves stated. A Good Samaritan intervened, which "probably…led to a swift end of this tragic event," Goncalves told reporters Monday night. Federal agents were present at the scene.
The victims were at a high school boys' hockey game when the shooting occurred, according to CBS News. Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.
